Open Data Summit

In collaboration with Knowledge as Power, GOSCON and the Oregon State University Foundation are pleased to sponsor the Open Data Summit. This event brings together those with government, civic, and technology interests to collaborate on standards issues. The summit is intended for IT managers for governments, CIOs, government clerks, policy staff, communications staff, those involved with data.gov programs, open government leadership, academics, government-related app or online service developers. GOSCON Meetup

Date: October 26, 2010

Time: 5:30 - 9:00 PM

Location: The Library Room, The Nines Hotel

Everyone is welcome to attend the pre-GOSCON 2010 Meetup. This event will give local government open source aficionados the opportunity to meet, mingle and enjoy a game of billiards with attendees of the Open Data Summit & GOSCON 2010. The Library Room serves cocktails and light refreshments, but folks looking for more substantial fare may wish to dine in the adjacent hotel restaurant, Urban Farmer.

IgniteGov

Date: October 27, 2010

Time: 6:30 - 8:00 PM

Location: The Nines Hotel Ballroom

IgniteGov is free of charge to attend and all are welcome. No registration is required.

IgniteGov will showcase lightning fast talks on a range of open source, open government and transparency topics. For those not familiar with Ignite events, they're a high-energy series of 5-minute talks given by people inspired to share their ideas with their community. Speakers are allowed 20 slides, each automatically advancing every 15 seconds, giving each speaker 5 minutes to share their burning ideas.

Doors open for IgniteGov at 6:30 PM. Upon arriving for IgniteGov, you'll have the opportunity to network with GOSCON 2010 attendees at the close of conference reception, then we'll head over the ballroom for an hour of talks.

Awards Ceremonies

GOSCON 2010 Open Source in Government Awards

Date: October 28, 2010

Time: 12 noon

Location: Conference Luncheon 

We are pleased to host our second annual GOSCON Awards to recognize government employees who have made significant accomplishments in the application of Open Source Technology in support of their agency missions. 

Selected by distinguished team of government and industry leaders, winners will be chosen from among the nominations received by the Awards Committee. More than one winner may be selected in each category or additional categories may be created to recognize outstanding accomplishments in Open Source Technology or Management. Winners will be notified and they and their manager will be invited to attend as honored guests of GOSCON 2010.

Awards will be presented in the following categories:

• Most Resourceful Use of Open Source
• Outstanding Large Scale Deployment of Open Source Software
• Best Intergovernmental Collaboration

Open Source for America Awards

To commemorate its first anniversary, Open Source for America is launching its inaugural Open Source Awards Program. Winners will be chosen from nominees submitted by Open Source for America Members. Judges will consist of a number of open source luminaries drawn from the OSFA Technical Steering Committee, and Board of Advisors. The awards will be presented during the conference luncheon directly following the GOSCON 2010 Awards.

CivicApps Awards Cermony
