For the last few years, business intelligence -- commonly referred to as BI -- has consistently ranked as a top priority for government CIOs, according to Gartner and other research organizations. Unfortunately the high cost of traditional BI solutions has been a barrier for many agencies. However recently open source business intelligence has emerged as an effective, low-cost alternative. US Federal government agencies that have adopted open source BI as a strategic alternative include the Departments of Defense, Homeland Security, Health and Human Services, Labor, as well as the USDA, the Federal Court System, the Peace Corps, and many others.

The presentation will provide an overview of open source BI Government adoption, profile several specific solutions, as well as provide a broader view of the total cost of ownership of open source software solutions.
