GOSCON 2008 Keynotes Appointed to the White House
Aneesh Chopra, Federal CTO
We were happy to hear that Aneesh Chopra, Virginia's Secretary of Technology, has been appointed to the position of Federal Chief Technology Officer. This key role decision was announced by the President on March 18th, 2009. Aneesh delivered a high-energy closing keynote at our conference in Portland, Oregon last fall on "Building a Culture of Innovation and Productivity through Collaboration".
Vivek Kundra, Federal CIO
Earlier this month another highly-anticipated announcement was made when Vivek Kundra, then Washington, D.C. CTO was named Federal Chief Information Officer at the White House on March 5th, 2009. Vivek fascinated the GOSCON audience with the creative "Applications for Democracy" project in his keynote talk "Open Source: A Way of Life". Today Vivek's responsibilities include the oversight of Recovery.gov, created as an accountability tool to track stimulus dollar spending. Recovery.gov is run on the same open source CMS that runs the GOSCON site - Drupal.
Aneesh and Vivek's 2008 presentations are available for download from the GOSCON 2008 archives.
